H.O.T
The only Finnish LGBTIQ sports club HOT was founded in 1997. The club represents all the Finnish sport groups directed to sexual and gender minorities, but regular sport activities take place only in Helsinki at the moment. The club HOT has about 200 members.
Our goal is to encourage LGBTIQ people to do sports and to take care of one’s health. We offer friendly, equal, happy, and sportive atmosphere for everybody, from beginners to competitive level athletes.
The most popular sports in HOT are: volleyball, floorball, badminton and aerobics. The club organises also other sports like swimming, futsal, tennis, skiing, and slalom. You are very welcome to join our training while staying in or visiting Helsinki. Contact the group leader of the sport to get more details. You can find contact details at sport specific pages listed here.
HOT members take regularly part in international tournaments like EuroGames and Gay Games. You can join us there as well – the events are open for athletes on different levels and ages.
HOT is a member of EGLSF (European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation), ESLU (Etelä Suomen Urheilu ja Liikunta), Liikkukaa ry and SUL (Suomen Uimaliitto – Finnish Swimming Association).
By the way, the name HOT is not shorthand of anything, it’s just HOT.
